SEMINARIO "TANGO MILONGUERO" — Fri, July 2nd - Tue, July 6th, 2010

This seminar is a program based on the rules of the social tango dance. That means that we’ll study here all that we believe is necessary for a good dancing in a reasonably crowded “milonga”. There is a particular embrace, the sort of steps which are manageable in confinded spaces with lots of rhythm and a high level of concentration on the music and on the partner.

In this seminar, we'll work on a very subtle technique through the upper body turns that permit the control of the space and the movement in all directions, keeping the minimum distance between the couple. We also work here on the attitude that has a great influence on the dance result and takes a basic role in the milonga context where the social meeting is the regular situation.

Another important element in this sphere is the particular use of the memory that evokes the “reaction at the moment”; we look forward to mobilizing the improvisation through the use of small modules or short sequences, conveniently organized, and very useful to easily solve the dance. We will also include in the program some quotes about historic aspects of the tango dance which are the connection that brought us to what the Tango Milonguero is today.

Two (2) classes in the morning (start at 11am), lunch break at 1pm, Two (2) classes in the afternoon (start at 2pm)

$790 per person. Includes all the classes and the Milongas from July 2nd - July 6th.

Pre-registration required. Couples only. Advanced Level. Space is limited to 20 couples.

SPECIAL CLASSES FOR ADVANCED LEVEL — Wed, July 7th, 2010, 2:00pm - 5:15pm

If you are a truly advanced level dancer, a teacher or a teacher's assistant, a fine dancer who would like to teach or you are an experimental Tango dancer, we invite you to join us in this class.

The classes, led by Gustavo & Giselle, will be held on Wednesday, July 7, are open to the public.

Fees are $50 per class or $80 for both classes (Included for Tango Week students), but couples MUST pre-register for one or both sessions.

3:45pm - 5:15pm: Milonguero Turn
