SCHEDULING AND CLASS BALANCE

Schedules may be revised as the week progresses. Changes will be announced and provided in a timely manner should they occur.

Using our experience of past years, we are again incorporating a Beginning Level Class. We consider the beginning level an integral part of NORA'S TANGO WEEK 2012 and we will give as much focus to beginners as we give to intermediate and advance level students. It is extremely important that you know your level of development in the dance. Nothing can be more frustating and unproductive than to begin in an inappropriate class. So PLEASE take classes geared to your level and don't be offended should one of the instructors ask you to change to another class that will be more helpul to you.

As in previous years, we insure a gender balance, but even with that balance the individual classes may vary. If there are five extra men in your class, there are probably five extra women in others. (Top of Page)

CLOTHING FOR CLASSES AND EVENING DANCES

Although we will have air-conditioning in the classes, we recommend bringing an extra t-shirt or blouse in the morning to enable you to change into a fresh garment later in the day. (Face it, Tango is sweaty work and your partners will appreciate it.) Bring comfortable dancing shoes for the classes. We ask that men do not wear shorts and no one wears tennis shoes (dance sneakers are permitted).

This is the San Francisco Bay Area -- summer clothing is appropriate at this time of year; however, we recommend you bring a sweater and/or jacket as the weather can be cool and windy at times, especially in the evenings.

We have themes for some of the Milongas (e.g., the 40's and the Black and White) so you may want to bring attire to reflect this themes. The Milongas on Sunday, Fridays and Saturdays tend to be dressier. (Top of Page)

CLASS COURTESIES

We are trying to keep NORA'S TANGO WEEK workshops as informal as possible, but here are some formalities to which we all need to adhere:

Please make an effort to arrive on time for your classes. It is disconcerting to the Masters and your fellow students to have stragglers arriving late. It is equally disconcerting to linger after the classes end, as the Masters may have to get to another class.

Please, do not congregate closely around the Masters when something is being demostrated. Crowding forms a tight wall that prevents some students from seeing. Everyone should step away from the center, and those in front should promptly sit down. This enables everyone to see and learn. As a group courtesy, please develop this procedure on your own.

If Masters ask you to change partners, we encourage you to do so. (It's a great way to make new friends!) (Top of Page)

PRIVATE LESSONS

Only participants of NORA'S TANGO WEEK 2012 are eligible to take private lessons; rooms are available at *TBA* for such lessons. Lessons must be scheduled through the "Person in Charge" of reservations, to be announced at the time of registration. Find a period that is convenient for you and possible for your preferred Tango Master, suggest it to the Master and, if it is fine with him/her, go see the "person in charge" — Jerry — to make arrangements. The Masters will handle their own financial arrangements. (Top of Page)
