Nito & Elba

Nito & Elba have been an NTW favorite and are the only teachers who have been coming to the event every year for 20 years.

Elegant and graceful, Nito and Elba Garcia are two of the most beloved and respected tango dancers, well into their sixth decade of dancing, who have toured the world as ambassadors of tango.  Elba was born in Junin, Buenos Aires and Nito in Buenos Aires Province.  Nito started his professional career by winning fifteen consecutive dancing contests from 1955 – 1965.  In 1966 he performed with Osvaldo Pugliese in Cielo de Barrilete at the Marconi Theatre. Since the early 1990s Nito and his partner Elba have been guest performers and teachers in established tango festivals throughout the United States – from San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Texas, Las Vegas, and Hawaii.  Plus Mexico, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Jamaica.  When in Buenos Aires, they perform regularly in the tango show at the Esquina Carlos Gardel, have been invited to teach at CITA every year and are highly in demand as private coaches for professional couples in Buenos Aires.  

Nito & Elba tour to international festivals to teach the true essence of Argentine Tango and have toured extensively in the Western hemisphere, starring during events in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, England and Spain as well as in Japan, Russia, and Israel.


Graciela Gonzalez & Leonardo Sardella

Graciela "La Leona" Gonzalez is no stranger in the U.S. She was in the first edition of NTW with Pupi Castello with whom she partnered with for nineteen years.  She is one of the most iconic women of tango in Buenos Aires and world reknowned for her experience in tango for her dancing and for her teaching.  Graciela has developed a keen understanding of what the Argentines refer to as the "Essence of Tango". And students, worldwide, have appreciated her generosity and her willingness to share her innovative approach to tango. We look forward to what she brings to this year's festival.

Leonardo Sardella is originally from Buenos Aires and resides in New York City where he currently teaches tango. Known worldwide for his ability to dance both roles interchangeably, as well as teach both roles, the value of his experience will give dancers the opportunity to progress quickly because he is able to provide immediate feedback for both roles. While this is not his first festival in the United States, this is his first time at NTW partnered up with Graciela.


Maria Ines Bogado & Jorge Lopez

María Inés Bogado started dancing when she was 12 years old. She grew up with folklore and received her degree in Folklore Argentino at the Centro Polivalente de Arte de Ezeiza. In 1994 she discovered tango and began studying with Cristina Pugni and Diego Gauna. In 1997 she continued her studies with Carlos Perez and Rosa Forte at the Club Sunderland. During this period she met Sebastián Jiménez with whom she entered into a professional tango partnership. In 2010 they won the title of Metropolitan Champions of Vals and World Champions in Tango Salón. After winning the titles they went on an intensive tour around the world, teaching and performing at the most prestigeous tango festivals on all continents. Among other festivals, they participated in: the International Festival of Tango Salón in Łódź, Poland, Singapore International Tango Festival, Belgrade Tango Encuentro in Serbia, Tango Festival Porto in Portugal, and Planetango in Moscow, Russia. In 2016 María Inés and Sebastián decided to pursue new professional endeavors. Teaching solo and with Jorge Lopéz she travels all over the world for festivals, performances, private classes, and seminars.

Jorge Lopez started taking classes with Mario Morales from an early age in the municipality of Monte Grande, he entered A.C.E.T.A.  As a regular student in which he trained with teachers: Javier Rodríguez; Geraldine Rojas; "The Turk" Joseph; Portalea; Carlos and Rosa Pérez; Jesus Velasquez, Christian Marquez and Virginia Gomez; Daniel Nacucchio and Cristina Sosa among others. He began to perform and teach at the schools "Bien Porteño", "El Beso", The Chip, Effect Tango (Tokyo Japan), Embracing tangos, Tango Corazon (Sweden) and Tango Buenos Aires.  He was invited to several events including "March for World Peace", in the prestigious Cultural Center of the South and to the Great National Milonga (organized by the association of master dancers and choreographers of Argentinean tango A.M.B.C.T.A.).  Since 2016 with Maria Ines, he travels all over the world for festivals, performances, private classes, and seminars.


Christian Marquez & Virginia Gomez

"Los Totis"

Christian and Virginia are a couple united by their passion for tango. They stand out for their strength, maturity, and distinct style of tango.

Their partnership began in 1996. They started training with renowned maestros and gained their first professional experience in 1997. Since then they have participated in many major national and international shows such as "Los tangos de la Cábala," "Piazzolla Tango, "Copes Tango Copes," and "O'Tango." In 2002 they started touring Europe and Asia for festivals and workshops.

They were the main couple featured in the music video "Diferente" by Gotan Project (2006). For two years in a row they participated in one of the most important tango festivals of Buenos Aires, CITA. They are currently dancers of the company "O'Tango" and "Corporacion Tango".

They give regular classes in Buenos Aires to transmit their knowledge to a new generation of tango dancers. Their dance is characterized by accuracy and quality of movement, with the goal of preserving the elegance and essence of pure tango.


Miriam Larici & Leonardo Barrionuevo

Miriam Larici was Introduced to the world of dance at the early age of five. Born and raised in Matheu, Buenos Aires, Argentina she was trained in classical Ballet,jazz, modern dance, acrobatic technique, Flamenco, social and stage Tango. Her first Tango instructors were Gloria and Eduardo Arquimbau. Miriam has produce, directed, and choreographed Tango shows in Buenos Aires and the United States. Famous as the iconic image of Luis Bravos Broadway-London hit "Forever Tango" Miriam mesmerized viewers and critics with her artistic elegance.

Leonardo has trained in an exquisite Tango style with some of the best Milongueros of the night of Buenos Aires as well as in contemporary dance, jazz and partnering technique. He has performed in and choreographed many tango shows in Argentina, Europe and Latin America including "Forever Tango".

Miriam Larici and Leonardo Barrionuevo, are now sharing their mastery, intensity, passion and magic. In January 2009, Miriam & Leonardo were crowned champions at the SUPERSTARS OF DANCE televised International Dance competition, representing Argentina.
